iPhone 18 launch reportedly being abandoned next year in favor of a foldable model, according to a report.

Apple is rumoured to be shaking up its smartphone lineup with the introduction of a book-style foldable iPhone 17, according to reports. The exact launch date for the iPhone 17 series is yet to be announced, but it seems that Apple may be focusing on the first foldable iPhone instead of the iPhone 18 launch in 2026.

If the report is true, the vanilla trim and the affordable iPhone 17e may launch globally in early 2023, while the more expensive iPhone 17 Air is said to be only 5.5mm thick and weigh approximately 149 grams.

The foldable iPhone 17 is expected to feature a durable design and a dual camera setup. It is also said to have a 7.8-inch internal AMOLED panel and a 5.5-inch external screen, provided by Samsung Display. Interestingly, Apple is rumoured to be replacing Face ID with Touch ID in its upcoming foldable iPhone 17.

In addition to the foldable iPhone 17, Apple is expected to release four other devices under the iPhone 18 series in September 2026. These devices are expected to be the iPhone 18 Air, iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and the foldable iPhone 17.

It's worth noting that the report does not provide any information about a price drop for the iPhone 17 series or the Oppo Find X8 Pro. Neither does it provide any information about the launch date of the iPhone 17 series or the iPhone 18 series.

The report was originally reported by Ashish Singh. If the foldable iPhone 17 becomes a reality, it could mark a significant step forward in Apple's smartphone innovation. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting development.
