iZotope Introduces FXEQ Plug-In for Manipulating Audio with Special Effects

iZotope has unveiled a new addition to their Catalyst Series, the FXEQ plug-in. This innovative tool offers a colourful, EQ-style visual interface that allows users to "paint" five different effects onto specific frequency bands of an audio signal [1][2][5].

With FXEQ, you can precisely control the application of effects like reverb, saturation, delay, modulation, and Lo-Fi. Each effect is represented by a distinct colour and associated with a six-band graphic EQ, enabling users to draw curves and apply effects selectively across the frequency spectrum [1][2][5].

This approach provides a surgical level of placement for effects, allowing you to add reverb only to high frequencies of a vocal or saturate mids on a drum loop, keeping the rest unaffected. The interface uses six EQ bands with four filter shapes per effect, with colour-coding visually indicating the frequency ranges influenced by each effect [1][2][5].

Each processing module offers a variety of effect modes and parameters. The Saturate effect offers eight saturation modes for weight, bite, and fizz. The Reverb effect provides three reverb types for spatial colour where desired. The Delay effect offers four delay types for dimension and stereo interest. The Modulate effect offers choices of chorus, flanger, phaser, and doubler modes. The Lo-Fi effect provides four different styles [1][2][3][5].

To prevent clipping, FXEQ includes a zero-latency limiter [1][2][3].

In addition to FXEQ, the Crossgrade offer also applies to any other Catalyst Series plug-ins: Velvet, Aurora, Cascadia, and Plasma. This offer is available until August 19, 2025. From August 19, 2022, until August 19, 2025, you can purchase FXEQ, as well as each of these plug-ins, for $39 during the limited-time Crossgrade offer [4].

FXEQ's colourful visual interface unites frequency-specific equalization with multi-effects in an intuitive "painting" style, empowering users to creatively and precisely apply effects by selecting frequency bands and visually representing the effect type and intensity by colour [1][2][5].
