Jumia Ghana designates Seleem Musibau as the newly-selected CEO

In a strategic move to expand its presence in Ghana's rapidly evolving digital market, Africa's leading e-commerce platform, Jumia, has appointed Seleem Musibau as the CEO of Jumia Ghana. With over a decade of experience within the company, Musibau brings a wealth of knowledge and a deep understanding of African markets to his new role.

Musibau's appointment, announced in July 2025, marks a key leadership transition for Jumia Ghana. Francis Dufay, CEO of Jumia, believes Musibau's deep experience within the company, strategic vision, and passion for results make him ideally suited to lead Jumia Ghana into its next phase of growth.

Prior to his promotion, Musibau served as Regional Chief Commercial Officer at Jumia. He also held the position of Chief Commercial Officer of Jumia Côte d'Ivoire. Musibau's roots within the company run deep, having joined Jumia in 2014.

Under Musibau's leadership, the strategic plan for expanding e-commerce operations in Ghana centers on leveraging his extensive experience within Jumia and deep understanding of African markets to drive operational stability and sustained growth in Ghana's digital economy.

One of the key elements of Jumia Ghana’s broader strategic expansion includes investment in logistics and supply chain infrastructure. The company recently inaugurated a new 6,000 square metre integrated warehouse and logistics network facility in Tema, strategically located near major transport routes. This expansion aims to reduce delivery times, increase product availability, and support Jumia’s position as Ghana’s preferred online shopping platform.

The focus on operational efficiency and product assortment expansion is also a priority. These improvements are in line with Jumia’s group-wide strategic priorities articulated for 2025, such as expanding beyond main urban centers, broadening product offerings with competitive pricing, and leveraging relationships with sellers to enhance growth.

Musibau’s promotion is part of a strategic approach by Jumia to foster homegrown talent that can deliver innovation and deepen market impact, indicating a long-term commitment to Ghana’s digital economy.

In his new role, Musibau will be responsible for scaling operations, strengthening local partnerships, and increasing customer trust as Jumia navigates the next chapter in Ghana's competitive online retail market. With Ghana's digital economy presenting ripe opportunities for e-commerce expansion, Musibau's leadership could be crucial in capturing that growth.
