Kertos secures substantial 14 million euros funding
In an exciting development for the compliance technology sector, Munich-based startup Kertos has secured a Series A funding round of 14 million euros. This round was led by global fintech investor Portage, with participation from existing investors Pi Labs, Redstone, 10x Founders, and Seed + Speed Ventures.
Kertos, which is impressing investors with its vision and execution of its AI-native compliance platform, aims to eliminate busy work and significantly reduce costs in compliance processes. The company is creating the foundational infrastructure for modern governance at scale, offering a solution that large corporations and SMEs can use to replace fragmented processes with AI.
At the helm of Kertos is co-founder and CEO Kilian Schmidt, who brings a legal background and direct experience in legal processes to the founding team. Schmidt studied at renowned universities like TU Munich and Humboldt University of Berlin. With a focus on balancing efficiency, security, and regulatory adaptability, Kertos is uniquely positioned to create the security and control structure that companies need as AI becomes increasingly embedded in critical business processes.
Kertos' platform supports European businesses with regulations, certifications, and governance. It automates the entire compliance process, from asset capture through risk assessment and documentation to monitoring. This automation allows companies to accelerate enterprise deals for startups and automate manual tasks for SMEs.
Portage Partner Hélène Falchier believes Kertos is setting new standards for compliance software. "Kertos' combination of expert knowledge with a powerful operating system, featuring AI agents handling processes, makes it a game-changer in the compliance technology landscape," Falchier said.
Kertos already has a impressive roster of customers, including Personio, Blacklane, NeoTaste, and Pliant. The company's platform is already making a difference in the compliance processes of these businesses, helping them to operate more efficiently and securely while remaining compliant with regulations.
As Kertos continues to grow and expand, it is poised to become a leader in the compliance technology sector. With its Series A funding, the company is well-positioned to continue developing its AI-native platform and to bring its innovative solution to even more businesses across Europe.
