Kherzhensky Reserve Gets 50 Camera Traps to Monitor Northern Reindeer

The Kherzhensky Nature Reserve in Nizhny Novgorod region is now equipped with 50 camera traps to monitor northern reindeer. The 'Beautiful Children in a Beautiful World' charity foundation is set to fund three more camera trap complexes for this purpose.

The reserve's northern reindeer habitats are priority areas for camera trap installation. Currently, all 50 camera traps are operational, capturing images of the wild reindeer herd in real-time via satellite transmitters. These cameras are strategically placed along forest roads and in typical biotopes outside of these roads.

The reserve's management has not disclosed specific details about the funding or installation timeline for these camera traps. For more information, it is recommended to contact the relevant authorities or organizations responsible for nature conservation in the area. Local media outlets and nature conservation associations often publish updates on such projects and their funding.

With the existing 50 camera traps and the upcoming addition of three more complexes funded by the charity foundation, the monitoring of northern reindeer in the Kherzhensky Nature Reserve is set to become more comprehensive. This will provide valuable insights into the reindeer's behavior and habitat, aiding in their conservation efforts.
