Konami confirmed that the online multiplayer mode Fox Hunt in Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater will not be compatible with other gaming platforms.
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater's Fox Hunt Mode to Remain Platform-Exclusive
In a recent announcement, Konami confirmed that the Fox Hunt multiplayer mode in Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater will not support cross-play between Steam, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. This means that players on each platform will be restricted to playing only with others on the same platform ecosystem.
The decision not to support cross-play was announced on August 13, 2025, over two years after the game's initial announcement[2]. The Fox Hunt mode was initially teased in 2023 and showcased at Konami's Summer Game Fest event, as well as at a PlayStation State of Play event[6].
Despite the seemingly tacked-on nature of multiplayer modes in some games, such as Uncharted 2, Bioshock 2, Kid Icarus Uprising, and the Bionic Commando reboot, the Fox Hunt mode in Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater was generally well-received. However, with the current trend of big live-service games competing for attention, the lack of cross-play may result in servers not being populated for long, especially with Battlefield 6 and Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 releasing in the fall.
Notably, Hideo Kojima, the creator of the Metal Gear Solid series, will not be playing Konami's Metal Gear Solid Delta remake. When asked about playing the game, Kojima expressed laughter, indicating that he has distanced himself from Konami and the Metal Gear Solid series[7].
