In some thrilling news, OMV Petrom, a heavyweight player in Romania's energy game, has unleashed the country's largest electric vehicle charging hub right on the A1 motorway, nestled in the heart of Miercurea Sibiului.

This charging station paradise stands proud with a whopping 34 fast-charging points, boasting an ambidextrous layout – 17 in each direction. Split between the loyal ranks of electric cars (16) and the mighty armada of electric trucks (18), these charging points are prepared to fuel up your e-vehicle anytime, anyplace!

💨 These aren't your run-of-the-mill charging stations; they're built for speed! 🚀 Each charger designed for passenger cars can unleash a phenomenal 300 kW, ensuring a typical electric car can chug on with a full battery in as little as 15-20 minutes[1]. That's faster than a cat chasing a laser, folks! The robust, hard-working electric trucks can't complain, either, with their high-capacity chargers throttling out an impressive 400 kW. The total installed charging power for the vehicles in question is a jaw-dropping 10 MW (5 MW in each direction). It's all thanks to a snazzy concession agreement between OMV Petrom Marketing and the National Road Infrastructure Administration Company (CNAIR) that got this partnership on the fast track. 🏎️

Radu Căprău, OMV Petrom's Executive Board Member responsible for Refining and Marketing, shared his thoughts, hinting at a larger, greener future for transportation. "Our 2030 strategy includes the development of the largest EV charging network in Romania," he stated, "as part of our commitment to support the decarbonization of transportation". Romania's main commercial routes, like the A1 highway, are being transformed into an electric superhighway with this monumental charging hub!

Adrian Nicolaescu, who oversees Retail Activities in OMV Petrom Marketing, envisions these stations as more than just a pit stop for electricity. "We're not just offering a place to refuel," he said, "but a space designed for comfort and convenience, where drivers can take a break, grab a well-deserved cup of joe or snack, and shop."

Building upon a burgeoning network of approximately 1,000 electric vehicle charging points already in place, OMV Petrom has ambitious plans to install a staggering 5,000 points by 2030[2]. The ambitious corporation manages a network of 780 fuel stations under various monikers like Petrom and OMV, spanning Romania, Moldova, Bulgaria, and Serbia. 📍

With Romanian shareholders claiming over 44% of OMV Petrom's shares, the Ministry of Energy grabbing a hefty 20%, and OMV Aktiengesellschaft, a key Austrian player, holding a 51.2% stake, this isn't just a local energy hero but an international powerhouse. The remaining slices of shares, about 4.5%, are in the clever hands of other foreign investors. Don't forget, 28.1% of OMV Petrom shares represent the free float on the Bucharest Stock Exchange[3].
