Leaders and experts gathered at the 2025 HIT Forum to discuss Asia's security order and regional challenges. They emphasized the importance of multilateralism, middle powers, and cooperation among nations.

Juliet Javellana, a prominent figure, stressed the role of middle powers like the Philippines, South Korea, and the US in East Asia. She described them as 'bridges' between major powers, fostering dialogue and understanding.

Mahfuz Anam echoed this sentiment, suggesting that regional conflicts could be better resolved without global political interference. He advocated for nations to take the lead in managing their own disputes.

Lee Chung-min, Korea's former ambassador, identified potential 'iceberg threats' in national security bureaucracies, policy shaping in emerging technologies like AI and quantum tech, and the growing influence of small companies. He advised Korea to prepare for a future where the US may not be the central player in regional security, urging ties with Asian neighbors and self-sufficiency in defense.

Taufiq Rahman supported multilateralism as the key to resolving conflicts between nations. He warned against unilateralism, emphasizing the importance of collective decision-making and cooperation.

Anam urged ASEAN leaders to broaden their outlook towards South Asia, citing growing Korean investment in Bangladesh as an example of the region's interconnectedness. Javellana, meanwhile, emphasized the role of Korea and Japan in maintaining peace and stability in the region.
