LEAG's GigawattFactory in Jänschwalde: First PV Phase Set for 2026

LEAG has chosen Jänschwalde as the location for its ambitious 'GigawattFactory' project. The energy park Bohrau, currently under construction on reclaimed mining land, will host a photovoltaic solar park and connected wind farms. This initiative aims to generate around two gigawatts of power.

The project will see local farmers continue their activities and participate in the mowing process, ensuring minimal disruption to their operations. LEAG plans to integrate various renewable energy sources, including photovoltaics, storage facilities, wind farms, and flexible gas power plants, to create a sustainable and diverse energy mix.

The initial phase of the photovoltaic plant, with a capacity of 133 megawatts, is underway in the 'Energiepark Bohrau'. This first phase is expected to be completed and connected to the power grid via LEAG's own switchgear station in Heinersbrück by the second half of 2026. Simultaneously, the neighboring 'Forst-Briesnig II' wind farm, with a capacity of 105 megawatts, is also slated to go online during this period. The project aims to promote biodiversity and species diversity through the creation of blossoming strips, wooden structures, and wildlife corridors.

LEAG's 'GigawattFactory' project in Jänschwalde is progressing steadily, with the first phase of the photovoltaic plant set to be completed in 2026. This project not only contributes to Germany's renewable energy goals but also supports local farmers and promotes biodiversity.
