LG Offers Discount on Astonishing Transparent 77-Inch OLED Television with Staggering Transparency

Apparently, the biggest buzz at CES 2024 earlier this year was generated by LG's impressive transparent OLED TV prototype. Now, just about a year later, LG is finally ready to push the boundaries further by making their innovating Signature OLED T TV available for purchase by consumers.

It's really amazing to see LG pioneering such avant-garde products like their radical transparent OLED TVs, such as the rollable R series, that haven't exactly been popular mainstream choices.

When LG announced that the Signature OLED T TV's unique lifestyle proposition will become available for purchasing, they revealed that the price tag for this one-of-a-kind product is an impressive $59,999. I, for one, have already placed orders for each of my yachts.

If you missed all the buzz surrounding the Signature OLED T TV at CES 2024, where it ultimately won 5 CES 2024 Innovation Awards, you can find my own personal take on LG's incredible OLED innovation in this article.

To put it succinctly, the Signature OLED T is a transparent OLED screen that can still display images while remaining see-through. However, with a simple touch of a button, it transforms into a regular, opaque OLED TV, complete with a full black backing, perfect for watching films in the same manner as a traditional OLED TV.

This remarkable product offers arguably the ultimate entertainment system; a massive screen that literally becomes invisible when you're not using it, but also delivers an unmatched theatre picture performance when you want to indulge in a proper movie night. And that's not all.

LG's Signature-Brand OLED Television Series: Principal Highlights for Luxurious Living

LG had already come up with creative ways to maximize the Signature OLED T's see-through technology at the 2024 CES, so it's no surprise to find LG offering plenty of cutting-edge features with the consumer version. For example, LG's launch information highlights an Always-On-Display mode called T-Objet, which turns the OLED T screen into a "transparent digital canvas" for displaying artwork, photos, or videos while still maintaining beautiful color and clarity, even while in a transparent state.

There's also a so-called T-Bar mode, where a ticker strip appears at the bottom of the screen, providing information like sports results, weather forecasts, song titles, or updates on the status of other IoT devices on your home network, while the rest of the screen remains transparent, effectively eliminating the black hole that a 77-inch TV usually leaves behind in standby mode. Even the OLED T's "T-Home" setup and app menus have been optimized for the transparent display.

The ability to make the OLED T transparent also opens up new possibilities for where you can place it. For example, you could place it in the middle of the room without it dividing the space when set to its transparent mode. Or, you could place it in front of a window without obstructing the light or the view.

A transparent screen would look a bit odd with multiple non-transparent cables sticking out of it, of course. To complete the OLED T's "disappearing act," LG has equipped it with wireless video and audio transmission technology, where an external Zero Connect Box collects all your sources and transmits their picture and sound losslessly to the OLED T screen. This wireless transmission system supports 4K images at up to 120Hz frame rates and also supports variable refresh rate gaming, including in the NVidia G-Sync and AMD FreeSync Premium formats.

Serious AV fans concerned that the Signature OLED T's design might affect the traditional picture quality of LG's OLED TVs need not worry. Once switched to its opaque mode, the black backing sheet that rolls up behind the previously transparent screen is completely solid, allowing no light to pass through, effectively transforming it into one of LG's regular premium OLED TVs, complete with LG's latest powerful Alpha 11 AI picture (and sound) processor.

While LG has only confirmed US pricing for the Signature OLED T so far, they assure us that the screen will be rolled out to additional markets over time.
