Locations in Kazakhstan offering gratis instruction on artificial intelligence.
In a significant move to bolster its tech and AI sector, Kazakhstan has announced the availability of free, accessible AI education for all ages through a nationwide initiative. The programme, spearheaded by Astana Hub and associated programs, aims to equip participants with a wide range of AI skills and provide pathways into the growing tech and AI job market.
The initiative, open to schoolchildren, students, adults, and civil servants nationwide, includes specific programmes catering to different age groups and skill levels. For instance, the TUMO Center targets youth aged 12 to 18, while Tech Orda is open to broader adult learners seeking IT skills.
Astana Hub’s AI Movement platform offers three free online AI courses accessible via a mobile app, designed for self-learners and digital enthusiasts. The TUMO Center for Creative Technologies at Alem.ai International Center provides training in 11 in-demand fields, including generative AI, animation, game development, 3D modeling, and robotics. The Tech Orda program, run in partnership with 72 private IT schools, offers 6-month to 1-year courses covering programming, big data, and cybersecurity with high job placement success.
Tomorrow School, Kazakhstan’s first AI school, features a two-year, peer-to-peer learning model with free tuition, covering over 20 programming languages and more than 50 projects—including free accommodation for regional students.
The benefits of this initiative extend beyond education. Graduates can potentially engage with Astana Hub’s dynamic startup ecosystem, which supports over 1,300 startups from 28 countries generating significant revenue and export earnings. Moreover, the national AI strategy is supported by high-tech infrastructure such as the Alem.cloud supercomputer in Astana, fostering local AI innovation and digital government solutions, which could provide further career and development opportunities for trained individuals.
Hundreds of new AI projects are created annually through Decentrathon, a hackathon that is part of this initiative. Participants without a team or project can join the AI Preneurs program. Upon completion of the AI courses, participants receive certificates. The AI courses are operational in Kazakhstan and are available for free to the public. The Astana Hub app is used to access these free online AI learning programs, which are available in both Russian and Kazakh languages.
This comprehensive educational opportunity is a testament to Kazakhstan’s commitment to fostering AI talent and innovation. With over 2500 participants expected for Decentrathon 4.0 this fall, it is clear that the nation is embracing this digital revolution.
