Manx Utilities & Dandara Team Up to Tackle Peel Sewage Odour

Manx Utilities and Dandara have joined forces to tackle a long-standing sewage odour issue affecting Peel housing estates. The problem has intensified during the recent dry spell, prompting urgent action.

The collaborative effort will begin once logistical details are finalised. The action plan includes cleaning out Dandara's private treatment works to remove septic sludge, a key step in addressing the odour problem. To minimise disruption to residents, work will be scheduled during less favourable weather conditions and avoid weekends.

Multiple tankers will be diverted to support the operation. Additionally, the local sewer network will be jetted to ensure no build-up of detritus. Residents may temporarily experience worsening odours during the work, but Manx Utilities assures that this is a necessary step towards a permanent solution.

The private treatment works will become redundant once the Peel Wastewater Treatment Works goes live in May 2027. In the meantime, Manx Utilities and Dandara are committed to working together to resolve the sewage odour issues, ensuring a better living environment for Peel residents.
