Mariblock OnChain Conference Set for Lagos: Stablecoins, Payments, and Africa's Crypto Potential

The Mariblock OnChain Conference, Africa's premier blockchain event, is set for Lagos on November 5-6, 2025. The conference, themed 'The Next Wave,' will delve into stablecoins, payments, FX, tokenized real-world assets, regulation, blockchain use cases, and Africa's burgeoning talent pipeline.

Kredete, a stablecoin-powered remittance platform, has secured $22 million in Series A funding, bringing its total raised to $24.75 million since last year. The platform has processed $500 million in remittances for over 700,000 monthly users, also boosting their credit scores by an average of 58 points.

Onboard 3.0, introduced by Coinbase-backed crypto startup Onboard, has attracted 10,000 new users since its launch two months ago. The update introduced virtual USD accounts, allowing users to receive payments directly.

Virtual asset service providers (VASPs) face administrative penalties and potential license suspension or revocation if they fail to comply with reporting detailed transaction information to tax authorities. Nigeria, for instance, requires exchanges registered in the country to report user activity, with individuals set to pay income tax on crypto transaction profits starting January 2026.

The upcoming Mariblock OnChain Conference promises to explore the future of blockchain in Africa, with Kredete's funding success and Onboard's user growth highlighting the continent's potential in the crypto space. As regulation tightens, VASPs must ensure compliance to avoid penalties.
