YAKUTIA.INFO. Get ready to dig deep into your wallets again – it’s that time of the year! November racks up sales galore, and the rumble for the hottest deals dubbed “Black Friday” brings the nationwide shopping frenzy under the spotlight, earnings up to two full weeks of nonstop deals! But this year, you might want to circle Thursday on your calendars – that’s the day online retail giant Megafon saw the lion’s share of sales.

Never ones to resist a bargain, Russians densely convened in the online aisles, spending significantly more hours scouting deals than usual. Yet, contrary to the later moniker, Thursday seized the day, accounting for a jaw-dropping 20% of the overall sales during the promotion – with Saturday following close behind at 16%, and Friday lagging slightly behind, securing a mere 15% share.

Despite the heaven-sent opportunity for high-speed deliveries, an astounding 80% of the savvy shoppers dreaded the delivery and hopped into Megafon stores like bees to nectar, nabbing their prizes in person. A microscopic 20% indicated their devotion to the couch by opting for delivery – whether it be the express kind or the standard.

What did the busy bees buzz about? With peak working hours tapping the “Purchase Now” button, our culture flocked to their favorite smartphone brands – the top three being the iconic Apple, tech giant Samsung, and the savvy Xiaomi. Headphones also warranted the love, with Apple's tunes topping the charts, Xiaomi banging out a bestseller rhythm of their own, and in-house trade mark Stellaray almost stealing the show.

Now, what of Yakutia, the heart of Siberia? The icy tundra folks swooped in during the “Black Friday” storm as well, with Thursday owning a 25% share and Friday, as in the Motherland, securing a 32% piece of the pie. What items did the Yakutians bring home? Smartphones, of course! There was no denying the popularity of the Honor, Samsung, and Xiaomi devices in the region.

So, how does “Black Friday” compare to the popular “11.11” sale (also known as “Singles’ Day”)? Let us parse the numbers: in the opening week of the end-of-the-year discounts, smartphone sales in Russia surged by 17% over the weekly sum the “11.11” sale could boast, the smartwatch market witnessed an impressive 6x increase, and the lucrative headphone niche boasted a 5x gain. Get ready for another season of major deals, folks!
