Massive Data Breach Unveiled: Over 210,000 U.S. Citizens Affected - Personal Data Leaked Includes Names, Social Security Numbers, and Financial Records
A major cybersecurity incident has come to light, with Georgia-based healthcare firm Harbin Clinic confirming an unauthorized breach affecting 210,140 individuals. The breach occurred in July 2024, when an unknown attacker gained access to the database of Harbin Clinic's third-party vendor, Nationwide Recovery Services (NRS).
The intrusion resulted in the theft of customer records, including names, addresses, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, and financial account details. Harbin Clinic used NRS for a debt collection service, recovering funds from customers with delinquent accounts.
In February 2025, NRS informed Harbin Clinic that some of its patient information may have been present on the impacted systems, although at the time, it was unable to identify which individuals were affected. Upon investigation, NRS determined that there was unauthorized access to their network between July 5th, 2024, and July 11th, 2024, during which time files and folders were illegally copied.
Following the discovery, Harbin Clinic immediately sent notification letters to affected customers, advising them about the data breach while offering free identity monitoring services. As of now, no instances of misuse of customer data have been detected, with the firm urging customers to remain vigilant and report any suspicious financial activity.
Harbin Clinic is a multi-specialty medical group, providing services such as family medicine, internal medicine, oncology, and cardiology.
