Microsoft Celebrates 50 Years with Windows XP-Themed Crocs
Microsoft is celebrating its 50th anniversary with a unique twist: customised Crocs inspired by Windows XP. The shoes feature iconic XP elements like the 'Bliss' backdrop, Internet Explorer, and the Office Assistant (Clippy). They're part of a fashion collection that also includes a drawstring bag with the Bliss backdrop. Microsoft calls the shoe charms 'Jibbitz'.
The Crocs are not yet available for purchase. Instead, Microsoft is running an Instagram competition, offering a pair to one lucky winner. This isn't the first time Microsoft has ventured into fashion. The tech giant has a history of releasing popular ugly Christmas sweaters. Unlike Cisco, which promised quarterly fashion collections, Microsoft's forays into fashion are less frequent, serving more as a side hustle than a core business. The company has not yet announced the specific designer of these XP-themed Crocs or an official release date, only teasing them so far.
Microsoft's Windows XP Crocs are a fun and nostalgic addition to the company's 50th anniversary celebrations. They're a unique way to honour the past while looking towards the future. While not currently for sale, fans can try their luck at winning a pair through Microsoft's Instagram competition.
