In the picturesque town of Bad Wildbad, located in the district of Calw, residents and tourists have been experiencing a significant improvement in mobile network coverage following a three-month disruption. The disruption, which began at the end of June, left many phones unusable for both residents and visitors, causing inconvenience and confusion.

The root of the issue lay in the upcoming demolition of a heating plant, which previously housed mobile phone masts. With no immediate solution in sight, temporary mobile masts were installed near St. Bonifatius Church to restore coverage quickly.

The current contractual buyer planning for the permanent mobile phone mast location in Bad Wildbad is Telefónica (o2), who have been searching for a new permanent site since 2023. They are currently evaluating several alternative locations in cooperation with the city, but no finalized permanent site has been announced yet. Vodafone's mobile mast, which has been in operation since September 5th, will remain until a permanent solution is found.

The disruption caused issues for many tourists, who were unfamiliar with the town, and made it difficult for residents to access information online or navigate to nearby locations. However, the good news is that life in the 'dead zone' is now over for the residents of Bad Wildbad.

Mayor Marco Gauger (CDU) of Bad Wildbad is relieved that the mobile network issue has been temporarily resolved. As the local authority, he is reliant on precise information to help find a permanent solution. The town is in close exchange with the mobile network providers, and a new permanent location for the mobile phone masts has not yet been found, but it doesn't seem impossible.

The restoration of mobile network coverage is a welcome relief for the residents and tourists of Bad Wildbad, who can now access extensive network capacity, including 5G and 4G/LTE technology. The temporary solution has bought time for the town and the mobile network providers to find a permanent solution, ensuring that the town remains connected in the digital age.
