The American Chemical Society (ACS) Fall Meeting in San Francisco, taking place from August 13-17, 2025, promises to be a significant event for the chemistry community, with a theme centred around "harnessing the power of data." One of the key highlights of the meeting will be two symposia co-chaired by a consortium, focusing on improving data management in chemistry.

The first symposium, titled **"Helping chemists manage their data,"** aims to address the challenges associated with data management and publication in the field, including the adoption of electronic lab notebooks (ELNs). The symposium will provide valuable insights into the creation and use of machine-actionable data in various applications, such as ELNs and knowledge graphs.

The second symposium, titled **"Exploring data and metadata for machine-actionable applications in chemistry,"** will delve deeper into the topic, discussing formats, standards, and terminologies for machine-actionable data. This symposium will also focus on the importance of rich metadata and ontologies in generating meaningful knowledge from data.

The ACS Spring Meeting in Indianapolis, held from March 26-30, 2025, served as a prelude to these upcoming events. The ACS Division of Chemical Information (CINF) organised sessions during the Spring Meeting, and our consortium expanded its international network of chemical information management stakeholders and gave presentations. Workshops organised by IUPAC were particularly productive during the Spring Meeting.

The consortium's active involvement in both the Spring and Fall Meetings underscores its commitment to advancing chemical data management and innovative metadata usage. These topics are critical for modern chemical research and data integration, and the symposia at the ACS Fall Meeting are expected to provide valuable learning opportunities for attendees.

For more precise scheduling and session outlines, consulting the official ACS Fall Meeting program or contacting the organizing committee directly is recommended. It's also worth noting that an InChI-related symposium focusing on chemical identifiers and data is planned adjacent to the San Francisco ACS meeting, further emphasising the event's broader engagement with chemical data standards and informatics.

As the chemistry community gathers in San Francisco, these symposia will undoubtedly contribute to the collective knowledge and advancement in the field, helping chemists better manage their data and harness the power of data in their research.

The data-and-cloud-computing technology will likely play a significant role in the symposia aimed at improving data management in chemistry, as they will provide insights into the creation and use of machine-actionable data in various applications. Furthermore, the commitment to advancing chemical data management and innovative metadata usage demonstrates the importance of technology in the broader engagement with chemical data standards and informatics at the ACS Fall Meeting.
