New BMW Model, iX3 Neue Klasse, Offers Impressive 800km Range, Swift Charging Speeds, and Innovative Technology Advancements
The new balance BMW iX3, set to premiere at the IAA Mobility 2025 in September, marks the beginning of a new chapter for BMW with the introduction of the Neue Klasse platform. The iX3 will enter production by year-end in Hungary, and it's clear that this electric SUV is poised to news revolutionise driving experiences.
At the heart of the iX3 lies the innovative "Heart of Joy" control unit, a high-performance "superbrain" that unifies the powertrain, chassis, braking, and recuperation systems. This state-of-the-art technology enables responses up to 10 times faster than current setups, promising a smoother and more responsive drive.
The iX3's assisted driving technologies are equally impressive. Motorway assist with automated lane changes, safe exit alerts, and cooperative braking are just a few of the features that make the iX3 a testament to BMW's commitment to safety and convenience.
The iX3 also boasts a panoramic iDrive interface, powered by BMW's new Operating System X. This system, along with the 3D head-up display, matrix-lit central screen, and a "shy-tech" steering wheel with haptic feedback, creates an immersive and intuitive driving experience. The Panoramic iDrive concept seamlessly blends tactile control with digital fluidity, ensuring a seamless transition between traditional and modern driving elements.
The iX3's impressive electric range is another highlight. With up to 800km (WLTP), the iX3 offers unparalleled driving distance, making long journeys a breeze. Moreover, the iX3 can replenish over 350km of range in just 10 minutes, thanks to its support for 400kW peak charging.
The iX3 also supports bidirectional charging for vehicle-to-home (V2H), -load (V2L), and -grid (V2G) use cases, further emphasising its versatility.
Mike Reichelt, the project leader of BMW's Neue Klasse, highlights longer range, faster charging, an all-new display and operating concept, and the intelligence of four superbrains as the distinguishing features of Neue Klasse. The high-voltage battery in the iX3 offers 20% greater energy density than previous models, contributing to its impressive performance.
The BMW iX3 50 xDrive will be the first production model built on the Neue Klasse platform, paving the way for a future of innovative and efficient vehicles from BMW. The iX3 is undoubtedly a game-changer, signalling a new balance era for BMW and electric vehicles alike.
