New electric SUV model ES8 from Nio unveils interior details prior to August 21 release
The new Nio ES8, set to be unveiled on August 21, 2025, in Chengdu, China, is poised to revolutionise the electric SUV market with its significant upgrades and improvements.
The third-generation ES8, positioned as a full-scenario technology flagship SUV, is designed for business, family, and personal use scenarios. It boasts a larger size compared to its predecessor, with dimensions of 5,280 mm in length, 2,010 mm in width, and 1,800 mm in height, and a wheelbase of 3,250 mm. This makes it the largest pure electric SUV currently available in the Chinese market.
Under the hood, the ES8 features a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system. The front induction motor delivers 180 kW, while the rear permanent magnet synchronous motor produces 340 kW, resulting in a combined output of 520 kW (707 hp) and 700 Nm torque. This powerful setup enables acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just under 4 seconds (3.97 s).
The ES8 comes standard with a 102 kWh battery pack, providing a CLTC range of approximately 635 km (395 miles). It supports ultra-fast charging up to 600 kW peak power with up to 5C charging rate; a five-minute charge can restore up to 250 km (155 miles) of range.
The interior of the ES8 offers a spacious cabin with six- or seven-seat configurations. The six-seat version includes reclining second-row seats up to 151 degrees with heated leg rests, enabling a near-bedroom comfort setup. The interior features high-quality materials, multiple large digital displays, advanced infotainment, customizable ambient lighting, and premium surround sound. Additional features include an in-car refrigerator and extensive cargo space.
The ES8 also offers enhanced driver assistance technologies, equipped with sophisticated hardware including a roof-mounted LiDAR, two wide-angle LiDAR units, 4D imaging radar, multiple cameras, and Nio’s NX9031 chip. It supports advanced driver-assistance features integrated with Nio’s World Model and has over 20 safety assist systems.
The new ES8's interior space is the largest in Nio's history, offering a space experience surpassing luxury SUVs in its class and the ride comfort of a high-end business MPV. With its upgraded performance, faster charging, and more luxurious and tech-rich interior, the ES8 is undeniably a leading luxury family electric SUV with cutting-edge technology designed for both comfort and performance.
The official launch of the all-new ES8 is scheduled for Nio Day 2025, following its unveiling on August 21. The ES8 features a horizontal central screen, similar to that of the ET9 sedan, and another long screen behind the steering wheel and central screen, as found on the ET9. It also incorporates flagship smart driving chips, a full-domain operating system, and an intelligent chassis.
