Defense for Christina Block readies for upcoming court appearance - Next day, Christina Block will appear at trial with a fresh defense strategy in place.

Break in Block Trial Disrupted Due to Defense Team Changes

The ongoing trial of Christina Block, the heiress accused of child abduction, has experienced an unexpected disruption as the three-week break planned after the last hearing on July 25 has been cancelled. This change is due to the shift in her defense team.

Ingo Bott, a member of Christina Block's legal team, will take over as her court-appointed defense lawyer starting from Friday. Paula Wlodarek, a member of Bott's law firm, will also be present at selected court sessions in Hamburg to support him.

The reasons for Christina Block's dissatisfaction with her previous lawyer, Otmar Kury, have not been specified. However, it is known that she felt Kury's public appearances and working methods did not adequately represent her legally. Ingo Bott has clarified that the legal fees for Christina Block's defense will not be covered by the state.

Bott is one of Christina Block's two defense lawyers in the trial, which is currently ongoing at Hamburg District Court. His defense strategy has not been detailed explicitly, but he is actively representing her against accusations that she contracted a global security firm to carry out the cross-border kidnapping of her two youngest children from Denmark.

Christina Block has repeatedly denied ordering the abduction during her nearly four-hour testimony. It is expected that the court will begin questioning her again on Friday, allowing her to address questions openly about the events of New Year's Eve 2023/2024.

The case involves complex allegations of international child abduction, with Block’s ex-husband Stephan Hensel as co-plaintiff and father of the children involved. The trial continuation was reported on August 19–20, 2025, highlighting the seriousness and high-profile nature of the proceedings.

It is worth noting that there is some media attention on the legal representatives, including an investigation into Christina Block’s lawyer, Ingo Bott, by the prosecutor’s office as of August 21, 2025. However, no specifics on what this entails or how it affects his defense strategy have been provided.

Despite these challenges, Bott has stated that the criminal proceedings will continue regularly with him taking over the defense. Christina Block was allowed to tell her version of the story during the last court hearing, and with Bott and Wlodarek by her side, she is prepared to face the allegations against her.
