Now in Sudberg, a fresh artificial turf has been installed.
In the heart of Wuppertal, Germany, the summer of 2022 saw a series of significant renovations to several sports facilities. The renovation of the Riedelstraße sports field, the city's oldest artificial turf pitch built in 2002, was one such project.
The renovation process, which began in the summer to minimise disruptions to ongoing match and training operations, involved the demolition of the old surface and the installation of a new, purely sand-filled artificial turf of the latest generation. Despite the challenges posed by a narrow access road for construction vehicles, the administration managed to overcome these obstacles, ensuring the renovation was completed as per the scheduled timeline.
The cost of the renovation was approximately 350,000 euros. Notably, this renovation was carried out with the intention of benefiting the traditional club SSV Sudberg.
Another notable development was the replacement of the entire elastic base layer of the Riedelstraße sports field, which did not meet the current standard of 35 millimeters.
Elsewhere in Wuppertal, the sports field Am Freudenberg had already received a new artificial turf surface in June. The renovation of SSV Sudberg's facility began on June 24th.
Looking ahead, the conversion of the clay court on the district sports facility Uellendahl into an artificial turf pitch is scheduled to take place soon. A tender for this conversion is currently underway.
For the most updated details on these specific renovation projects, including the progress of the renovation at SSV Sudberg and the Uellendahl district sports facility, it is best to consult local government websites, sports clubs' announcements, or local news sources in Wuppertal directly.
Technology played a crucial role in the renovation of the Riedelstraße sports field, as a new generation sand-filled artificial turf was installed. Moreover, the renovation of SSV Sudberg's facility, scheduled to begin on June 24th, could potentially embrace innovative sports technology in the near future.
