Chillin' with the Designers

Hey there, folks! Today, we're talking all things Dribbble – that awesome platform helping professional designers thrive and showcase their fiery talent.

But it's not just about the beauty, it's also about the bucks, and Dribbble's team has been cookin' up a change to keep the cash rollin' and the designs poppin'. They decided to ditch the ads 'n' switch to a revenue-sharing marketplace!

Why the switch? Simple. Alignin' the business with their mission – helpin' designers snag gigs and take pride in their work. Over the past decade and half, they've seen millions of leads and billions in opportunity from designers, but only passengers on the cash-train to victory (not ride-or-die teammates, ya feel?).

They're take no prisoners now, and to make it happen, they've added sweet new features like Milestones, Service Search, and Video Calls, among others. Plus, that growth? Boomin' since Week 36 without a single dime spent on marketing!

But here's the kicker – some folks are disintermediatin' (AKA skippin' the platform and gettin' their hustle on elsewhere). Bad news? Yeah, a tad. No revenue for Dribbble, and less for designers. That's not the victory parade they're after.

Less revenue means fewer resources for new features, losin' out on high-intent website traffic, and increased risk for scams, fraud,... you get the idea. So, today, they're sayin' "Keep it on the platform, fam!"

From now on, clients and designers alike gotta talk shop, make payments, and handle their business all on Dribbble. There's a Platform Fee of 2-5% on client payments and 0-3.5% on designer payouts, but it's worth it for the safety net and benefits. Clients score lower chances of scams, protection against IP claims, and opportunities to rate and review the designers they hire. Designers get to avoid scams, late payments, and boosted search rankings for more leads.

Now, like any rules, there's consequences for breaking 'em. Account suspensions, harsh like a thug's glare from the sidewalk. But they'll keep it gentle – they dig the designers who make Dribbble what it is, and they don't wanna ruin the party.

The gift keep on giving, now that payments are no longer a heist to make. Dribbble sees more revenue for both their designers and the platform's future. Free to upload designs, browse work, offer services, and send project requests, but keep the high-stakes negotiations for inside the platform.

Oh, and don't fret about your ads, designer advertisers. Promoted Designers, Display Ads, and Promoted Services will still get the job done, and you can communicate with clients off-platform like before. But stick around for the long haul, design fam, and reap the rewards of staying in the game.

This might be a change, but it's a good one. Let's partner up, help each other grow, and make Dribbble the best it's ever been. This is a journey we take together, and Dribbble's got your back, fam.

Designers can expect a shift in operations as Dribbble transitions from ads to a revenue-sharing marketplace, aligning with their mission to empower designers and provide more opportunities. Future transactions, including talks, payments, and negotiations, will take place exclusively within the platform, ensuring a safer environment and boosted search rankings for designers. Breaking these rules may lead to account suspensions, but Dribbble encourages designers to adapt and collaborate, ultimately creating a more prosperous community and platform.
