OpenAI Unveils ChatKit, AgentKit, and New Real-Time Models at Annual Conference
OpenAI has been busy expanding its ecosystem of AI tools and services. The company recently hosted its annual developer conference in San Francisco, where it unveiled several new products and updates.
One of the key announcements was the launch of ChatKit, a toolkit for embedding agent experiences into apps. This follows the successful implementation of AI agents by companies like Zendesk, which use OpenAI's Apps SDK to connect with multiple systems and automate customer service tasks. Examples include innFactory's CompanyGPT, which integrates GPT-5 models for enterprise AI assistants with advanced access management and workflow automation features.
OpenAI also introduced AgentKit, a no-code agent builder that enables developers to create agents and multiagent systems with minimal effort. This tool integrates with OpenAI's Evals tool for testing prompts and measuring model behavior.
In addition to these new tools, OpenAI launched new real-time voice and image models, gpt-realtime-mini and gpt-image-1-mini. These models are less expensive than their larger counterparts, making AI technology more accessible.
OpenAI has also been expanding its integrations. It added a Slack integration and an SDK for embedding Codex's tools into CI/CD pipelines and other tools. Codex, OpenAI's AI coding agent, was launched into general availability at the conference.
OpenAI plans to launch a directory of apps that conform to its guidelines, opening it up to developers. The first apps available in ChatGPT are from Booking.com, Canva, Coursera, Expedia, Figma, Spotify, and Zillow. OpenAI announced that it will enable third-party apps to be invoked within the ChatGPT interface.
The annual developer conference has highlighted OpenAI's commitment to expanding its AI tools and services. With the launch of ChatKit, AgentKit, new real-time models, and expanded integrations, OpenAI is making AI technology more accessible and versatile. The upcoming app directory will also provide developers with more opportunities to create and share innovative AI applications.
