OpenSolar Secures $20M Funding, Aims for Global Solar Expansion
Australian solar software company OpenSolar has secured $20 million in equity funding, with Google among the investors. The company aims to expand globally and enhance its AI-driven technology solutions.
OpenSolar's latest funding round also saw participation from Titanium Ventures and 2150 Sustainability Fund. The company plans to use the proceeds to grow its global presence and improve its AI capabilities.
OpenSolar 3.0, the company's latest platform, allows homeowners to monitor and manage their energy usage in a single location. This enables smarter energy solutions and helps reduce the cost of solar delivery. OpenSolar's ultimate goal is to facilitate 50% global solar energy adoption by 2035.
Since its inception, OpenSolar's technology has facilitated the design of 6 million solar systems, valued at over $10 billion. The platform offers free solar design, sales, and project management software to installers, generating revenue through partnerships. It leverages Google's Solar API data to help installers create accurate solar energy systems.
OpenSolar has experienced remarkable growth, exceeding $10 billion in solar sales and installations by July 2025, with an annual growth rate of 36%.
With $20 million in new funding, OpenSolar is well-positioned to expand its global reach and enhance its AI-driven technology solutions. The company's innovative platform and strategic partnerships, including with Google, are driving significant growth in the solar industry.
