"Unabashed" and "Repugnant": Musk Slams Trump's Tax Bill

Audacious and Impudent: Individual Disregards Established Norms, Remains Unchecked and Unrepentant - "Outspoken" and "offensive": Musk sharply condemns Trump's tax policy
Billionaire CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, Elon Musk, called out the recently passed tax bill as a "disgrace" and "stuffed with pork." Here, "pork" refers to unnecessary and often wasteful spending in American politics. Musk denounced those who voted for it, suggesting they should feel "ashamed." According to Musk, "you know that you've done wrong."
Musk had previously expressed his disappointment with the bill in an interview near the end of May. He criticized the bill for exacerbating the U.S. national debt, contradicting his mission to save massive sums for Trump's administration. A day after, Musk announced his withdrawal from his advisory position.
Now, Musk speaks out against the bill, stating that it will burden citizens with "crushing, unbearable debts." Trump has dubbed his bill the "Big Beautiful Bill." Despite concerns from Republicans, Trump urges the Senate to pass the bill by early July.
The bill contains provisions extending the significant tax cuts from Trump's first term (2017 to 2021), which would otherwise expire at year's end. To balance this, drastic cuts to the healthcare program Medicaid are planned, mainly for those on low income and the elderly. Critics predict that the controversial law could increase the federal budget deficit by up to $3 trillion over the next decade.
White House spokeswoman, Karoline Leavitt, brushed off Musk's latest criticism, stating it wouldn't impact Trump's support for the bill. "The President is aware of Elon Musk's stance on this bill," she said. Trump remains adamant about his "big, beautiful bill."
House Speaker, Mike Johnson, described Musk's remarks as "disappointing." He had previously explained the bill to Musk in a 20-minute phone call and felt Musk had understood it.
Musk harshly criticized the bill, as he felt it undermines his role in Trump's administration. Recently, Musk has become increasingly dissatisfied with his role, missing his initial goal of saving $2 trillion through the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) by a wide margin. Despite tens of thousands of job losses due to radical cuts, only a minuscule amount was saved, according to "The Atlantic" magazine.
Amid Tesla's financial struggles and SpaceX's latest Starship test flight failure, Musk looks to refocus on his companies.
