Polestar 3 Unveils Upgraded Version With More Power, Faster Charging

Polestar, a brand with roots in Volvo and Geely, has unveiled an upgraded version of its electric SUV, the Polestar 3. The Swedish-designed, China- and USA-produced vehicle now boasts enhanced processing power and improved charging capabilities.

The Polestar 3 has received a significant boost in processing power, thanks to the integration of an Nvidia Drive AGX Orin processor. This upgrade increases the vehicle's processing power to 254 TOPS, enabling better active safety management.

The manufacturer has also enhanced the SUV's power and charging speed. The updated 3 features a new permanent magnet synchronous rear motor, which increases power output to 671bhp in the Performance guise. Additionally, the vehicle now operates on an 800V electrical architecture, doubling the previous 3's voltage. This new architecture allows for rapid charging, with the ability to charge from 10-80% in just 22 minutes at 350kW.

Further efficiency improvements come from the front motor, which can now automatically disconnect when not needed. This feature helps to extend the vehicle's range.

The MY26 update of the Polestar 3 will first be available in the UK, where demand for the vehicle is high and the previous model year is sold out. While pricing for the MY26 3 has not been announced, it is expected to rise from the current £69,990. The upgraded Polestar 3 promises more power, faster charging, and improved efficiency, making it an attractive option for electric vehicle enthusiasts.
