"Poor Grammar Score Triggers Abusive Response": American Programmer Receives Aggressive Message from Indian Coder Following Job Rejection
A Rant from an Angry Indian Developer
Someone named ShivanshxDev has made headlines for all the wrong reasons. This guy was so salty after a buddy of his, Tanishq Maheswari, didn't get picked for the 2025 Google Summer of Code (GSoC) program, that he decided to unleash a torrent of abuse on Lee Calcote, a tech dude hailing from the States.
Calcote, mind you, had nothing to do with GSoC or its selections. Yet, this Indian developer thought it was a brilliant idea to send him a message loaded with threatening language and some crushing insults, even going so far as to call Calcote "ginger" - a term that conjures images of redheads, which Calcote certainly is not.
In a lighthearted response, Calcote rated the message's creativity as a mere 4 out of 10, its accuracy a tad better with 3 out of 10, and zero for its grammar and effectiveness. Confused about why he was in the crossfire, he shared the message on a social media platform, X.
Well, it turns out that ShivanshxDev was sending this missive on behalf of his unsuccessful friend, Tanishq Maheswari. and as a result, both of them were summarily barred from participating in GSoC.
The public airing of his abusive message led to a flurry of criticism on social media. Many users slammed ShivanshxDev's behavior as unprofessional and called for better standards of conduct in the developer community. Some voiced their disappointment, commenting that such actions were a disgrace to Indian talents in the global tech scene.
Others praised Calcote's measured response, stressing on the importance of handling rejection constructively instead of lashing out with threats and curses. Moreover, Calcote received further threats asking him to take down his post exposing the incident, adding fuel to the fire.
In essence, this debacle was the result of a sour grapes moment, when an Indian developer vented his frustration in a completely inappropriate manner, not only bringing shame upon himself but also reflecting poorly on the entire Indian developer community in the global tech sphere.
Technology played a significant role in amplifying the fallout of ShivanshxDev's unprofessional behavior. His abusive message, initially shared on social-media platform X, sparked a wave of general-news stories, entertainment headlines, and discussions about crime-and-justice in the tech community. The incident underscores the importance of proper conduct in the digital age, emphasizing the need for individuals to use social-media responsibly and for the betterment of the global technology community.
