In a surprising turn of events, the so-called most feminist government in Spanish history has come under fire for implementing telemetric bracelets that are allegedly putting human lives at risk. According to the National Police Union Jupol, these bracelets, designed to monitor abusers, are not functioning as intended.

The union has criticized the new bracelets, which were acquired by the Ministry of Equality at a cost of 150 euros - a significant reduction from the 1,500 euros previously spent on similar devices under Telefónica's administration. However, Jupol claims that these cheaper bracelets, now supplied by Indra, are far from reliable.

The union has reported numerous issues with the new bracelets, including constant failures, false alarms, and a lack of protection for victims. These problems have led to anxiety and a lack of trust in the system, according to Jupol. Furthermore, the union has denounced that these bracelets are the same as those available for purchase on Chinese online sales platforms like AliExpress and Alibaba for as little as 14.50 euros.

Jupol's concerns are not just about the functionality of the bracelets. The union has also highlighted the serious precariousness in the attention to victims of gender violence due to the lack of agents in the Family and Woman Units (UFAM). The union has demanded immediate measures to strengthen the UFAM, update the catalog of job positions, and ensure that all victims are attended with the dignity, intimacy, and professionalism established by the regulations.

The UFAM's catalog of positions has not been updated since 2008, and in some cases, a single agent may assume the protection of more than a hundred women. This situation, coupled with the issues surrounding the telemetric bracelets, has led Jupol to question the government's commitment to protecting victims of gender violence.

The police union has emphasized that it is not possible to speak of the defense of women while maintaining a catalog of job positions frozen for 17 years, abandoning the police who work in the UFAM, and delegating the security of victims to devices that do not work.

In a recent statement, Jupol has demanded immediate action, stating that these issues with the bracelets are another example of the distance between political propaganda and reality. The union believes that the government's actions are putting human lives at risk and that urgent changes are needed to ensure the safety and protection of victims of gender violence.
