Qualys Bolsters CSAM with Shodan.io Integration for Enhanced External Asset Visibility

Qualys, a leading cybersecurity company, has bolstered its CyberSecurity Asset Management (CSAM) platform with an integration to Shodan.io, a powerful internet scanning tool. This collaboration aims to enhance external attack surface visibility for enterprises, government agencies, and security organisations.

Shodan.io is a renowned tool used by both cybersecurity teams and attackers to discover assets exposed to the internet. It indexes information about these assets, making it a valuable resource for organisations to understand their external risk landscape.

Many organisations currently rely on spreadsheets to maintain an inventory of their externally facing assets. However, this method is not integral to security and can lead to gaps. Qualys' integration with Shodan addresses this challenge by continuously inventoried, assessed, and mitigating risks associated with these assets.

Once scanned and managed with Qualys sensors, assets can be monitored for changes, helping cybersecurity teams keep track of their dynamic attack surface. CSAM queries Shodan to find assets related to an organisation and compares them with its existing inventory, highlighting unknown unknowns and shadow IT deployments without IT oversight.

The Shodan integration is now available to Qualys customers with a CSAM subscription. By leveraging Shodan's extensive internet scanning capabilities, Qualys CSAM can provide a more comprehensive view of an organisation's external attack surface, helping cybersecurity teams better protect their assets and mitigate potential security issues.
