Ray-Ban's leaked Display Glasses poised to outshine competition from Google, Samsung, and Amazon in terms of style innovation.

Meta, the tech giant, is set to cement its legacy in the smart glasses industry with its latest announcements. The company is expected to unveil a new line of Ray-Ban and Oakley glasses, equipped with Meta technology, at its upcoming event.

The Ray-Ban Meta Display glasses are set to offer a true next-generation upgrade, surpassing the capabilities of existing Ray-Ban Smart glasses. Meanwhile, the upcoming Oakley smart glasses, scheduled to be announced in the Sphaera visor form factor, promise to be even more sporty.

These developments come as Meta continues to invest heavily in AR/VR research, having spent around $70 billion over the past decade. This investment is expected to further accelerate with Meta's plans to spend an additional $70 billion on AI investments in 2025.

Manufacturers have been impressed by Meta's smart glasses, with EssilorLuxottica, the parent company of brands like Ray-Ban and Oakley, expressing approval. The extent of the partnership between Meta and EssilorLuxottica, however, has not been specified.

In a move to challenge Meta, Google has partnered with Warby Parker and Gentle Monster to create smart glasses for popular eyewear brands. However, unlike Google, Meta has not previously partnered with either Ray-Ban or Oakley.

Interestingly, Meta is rumoured to be targeting Prada wearers next for its smart glasses, potentially with a higher price tag. Prada, a high-end fashion brand with a significant following among wealthy individuals, could provide a lucrative market for Meta's stylish smart glasses.

Amazon is also entering the fray, hosting a new hardware event this week where they're expected to announce a new pair of next-generation Echo Frames. These glasses are rumoured to cost $800, the same price as the Ray-Ban Display glasses.

The future of smart glasses seems to be an exciting one, with several new Ray-Ban and Oakley-branded smart glasses scheduled to be announced at Meta Connect 2025. This includes the "Hypernova," presented as Meta's most advanced AI-powered smart glasses, built upon its collaboration with EssilorLuxottica.

While Meta's current position as a stylish smart glasses brand may not have been anticipated by Mark Zuckerberg, it is clear that the company is making a bold move to dominate this emerging market.
