In a significant move towards modernising and improving the airport experience, Lufthansa Innovation Hub has partnered with Terminal 2 of Munich Airport. This collaboration aims to make airport life more efficient, sustainable, and user-friendly.

Born in 1991, Isabella Sauer, a journalist with a keen interest in mobility, has been appointed to oversee this project. Sauer, who studied communication science in Bamberg, has a rich background in the industry, having worked for large publishing houses like Axel Springer and the Funke Media Group, and completing a traineeship at Auto Bild Digital.

The focus of the innovations will be on areas of automation, digitalization, and sustainability. While the specifics of these upcoming projects have not been disclosed, one example of the innovative solutions being implemented is the use of autonomous robots from startup Ottonomy. These robots are currently assisting travelers with questions and access to the Lufthansa chatbot at Terminal 2 of the Munich Airport. In the future, these robots will also be tasked with transporting small items like water bottles.

More digital projects are planned as part of this collaboration. Terminal 2 of Munich Airport will serve as a testing ground for these innovations, with the goal of further enhancing the passenger experience and operational efficiency at the airport.

This collaboration is part of the Lufthansa Venture initiative "Startup Gate". The Lufthansa Innovation Hub and Terminal 2 of Munich Airport have agreed to work together to drive aviation innovation. The partnership underscores Lufthansa's commitment to staying at the forefront of the industry and providing the best possible experience for its passengers.

Isabella Sauer, with her private pilot license (PPL) since May 2025, is well-equipped to lead this project. Her passion for mobility and extensive industry experience make her an ideal candidate to steer this collaboration towards success.
