rPlus Energies Expands Idaho Solar Presence with Pleasant Valley Solar 2
rPlus Energies is set to expand its solar presence in Idaho with the Pleasant Valley Solar 2 project. Sundt Renewables is on board to provide engineering, procurement, and construction services. The project has attracted major off-takers like Meta and Micron, with financing secured from Truist Bank.
The 2022 CHIPS and Sciences Act is driving demand for reliable solar power in the U.S., making projects like Pleasant Valley Solar 2 timely. The project is planned to open in the early summer of 2026 and is permitted for future expansion, including battery-based storage. rPlus Energies has secured $100 million in tax equity funding for this project.
The project will join the recently commissioned 200 MW Solar Valley 1, delivering electricity to Idaho Power and supporting Meta's data center near Boise. Luigi Resta, president and CEO of rPlus Energies, noted that the Pacific Northwest is capacity restrained, and utilities are seeking reliable dispatchable power.
Pleasant Valley Solar 2, with its strategic location and reliable power output, is expected to meet the growing electricity demand in the northwestern United States. The project's funding and major off-takers indicate that large-scale solar remains a preferred solution for powering data centers and other high-demand facilities.
