RTX 5060 laptops' early benchmark results have been disclosed, mirroring anticipated performance
Dive into the world of gaming, as we eagerly anticipate the arrival of budget-friendly laptops and PCs this May. The reason? Exciting entry-level GPU releases on the horizon! Despite inflated prices currently hitting the market, there's a promise of relief for budget-focused gamers. And guess what? The first RTX 5060 laptop benchmark results have already surfaced!
The Colorful "iGame M15 Origo" and "P15 Pro" worked their magic on the GeekBench OpenCL benchmark, scoring 102,564 and 109,431, respectively. Powered by an RTX 5060 laptop GPU, these machines demonstrate promising performance, but with the customary caveats.
OpenCL scores aren't always the stamp of approval for GPU rendering tasks, and GeekBench scores can fluctuate significantly. Moreover, there's no info about the power limits for these RTX 5060 GPUs. Nevertheless, we can make a reasoned comparison. These results seem about 18% faster than an RTX 4060 laptop GPU. But hey, there's more to the story.
Let's take a look at the average results from the GeekBench database. The RTX 4060 laptop averages a score of 89,099. That means the RTX 5060 scores are about 14% and 22% faster than the last-gen GPU, respectively. But remember, the GeekBench database contains wildly varying results due to a myriad of system configurations, so the big picture isn't black and white. In fact, some RTX 4060 scores match up to these RTX 5060 results, such as the 104,509 score.
As for clock speeds, the RTX 5060 laptop GPUs are clocking in at 2,025 MHz and 2,212 MHz. That's not far off from the RTX 4060 mobile GPU's maximum boost of 2,370 MHz. The Asus TUF A14 can even boost up to 2,225 MHz. There should be more headroom for RTX 5060 laptop chips on this front, as Nvidia lists the RTX 5060 laptop GPU's max boost clock at 2,497 MHz.
It's looking good for the RTX 5060, with an additional 8% more cores (3,072 for the RTX 4060 vs 3,328 for the RTX 5060). If this extra power translates into at least 8% performance gains, throw in some architectural improvements, and you might get those 18% increases Nvidia's boasting about, especially for high-end CPU laptops. But we'll have to wait and see!
RTX 5060 laptops were officially announced a couple of weeks ago and should be launching next month. Some manufacturers already hinted at RTX 5050 and RTX 5060 laptops a while back, so it was tough to miss the signs. Nvidia sets a starting price of $1,099 for the RTX 5060, but don't get too excited - it won't be for anything like the high-end Core i9 and Core Ultra 9 models mentioned here.
