Russia Expands Property Registration to 35 More Regions, Including Annexed Ukrainian Districts

In a significant expansion of its services, Russia has extended its property registration system to 35 more regions. Citizens can now register property rights for residences and land plots in various regions, including the four Ukrainian districts annexed in 2022, from the comfort of their homes using Multi-Service Centers (MFCs). Previously available in Moscow, the Moscow region, St. Petersburg, and the Rostov region, this service allows residents to submit documents at their local MFC. The center then digitizes and forwards the documents to the relevant region where the property is located. This new development simplifies the process for residents of Khabarovsk, who can now sign apartment rental agreements through the 'Gosuslugi' portal and register property in new Russian regions on an extraterritorial basis. The expansion, effective since June 2024, covers a wide range of regions, including those in the Far East and Siberia. It aims to streamline administrative processes and reduce the burden on citizens, enabling them to manage their property rights more efficiently. With this extension, Russia's property registration system now covers a total of 39 regions. The move is expected to enhance convenience for residents, particularly in remote areas, by allowing them to handle property-related matters locally without the need for long-distance travel.
