Sabih Khan, a man of Indian origin, has been identified as Apple's newly appointed COO. Jeff Williams, in a recent announcement, has announced his retirement, paving the way for Khan's promotion.

Sabih Khan, an Indian-origin executive with a 30-year career at Apple, has been appointed as the company's new Chief Operating Officer (COO), effective from July 2025. This move marks a significant step in Apple's commitment to operational excellence and sustainability.

Born in Moradabad, India, in 1966, Khan moved with his family to Singapore during his schooling years before relocating to the United States. He holds dual bachelor’s degrees in economics and mechanical engineering from Tufts University and a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI).

Khan joined Apple in 1995, starting in the procurement team after working at GE Plastics as an applications development engineer and key account technical leader. Over the years, he ascended through the ranks due to his pivotal role in shaping and managing Apple’s global supply chain. Since 2019, he has served as Apple’s Senior Vice President of Operations, overseeing the company's global supply chain, product quality, planning, procurement, manufacturing, logistics, product fulfillment, and supplier responsibility programs.

Under Khan's leadership, Apple has pioneered new advanced manufacturing technologies and expanded its manufacturing footprint in the United States and Asia. He has also ensured Apple’s operational agility amid global challenges such as supply chain disruptions.

Apple CEO Tim Cook praised Khan as a "brilliant strategist" and one of the central architects of Apple’s supply chain. Khan's predecessor, Jeff Williams, believes he is the most talented operations executive on the planet.

In his new role as COO, Khan will oversee all operational aspects of the company, continuing his focus on supply chain excellence and sustainability. Williams will remain with Apple until his retirement later this year, after which the design team will report directly to CEO Tim Cook.

Khan's contributions to Apple extend beyond the operational realm. He has shouldered Apple's supplier responsibility programs, which include protecting worker rights and advancing Apple's environmental initiatives by partnering with suppliers to promote green manufacturing and resource conservation.

In his personal time, Khan enjoys Hindi songs, and one of his relatives has disclosed that he is deeply fond of Parle-G biscuits.
