Samsung's One UI 8.5 Brings Major Features: Family Sharing, AI Camera Upgrades, and More
Samsung's upcoming One UI 8.5, based on Android 16, promises a host of innovative features when it launches with the Galaxy S26 family in January. The new interface aims to enhance user experience, from improved wireless connection management to advanced file sharing and camera upgrades.
One UI 8.5 introduces 'Family Device Sharing', allowing family members to share files easily. The update also brings One UI 8.5 to Samsung phones, adding automatic call filtering, NFC-based Quick Share, pollen forecasts, AI shortcuts, and accessibility features like a flashing light protector and private display mode.
The update includes major camera upgrades with professional video tools and a revamped gallery app. Users can also expect customizable quick settings and a refreshed design with a compact layout.
Samsung is planning to change how folders appear in One UI 8.5 and may include a feature called 'switching to mobile data with AI' for smoother handover between Wi-Fi and 5G. The AI could learn user behavior to determine the best time to switch connections.
One UI 8.5 is set to bring significant improvements to Samsung devices, with a focus on enhancing user experience and connectivity. While the update is expected to launch with the Galaxy S26 family in January, existing Samsung phone users may not receive it until well into 2026.
