SAP's New CMS Feature: Component-Based Development for Scalable Websites
SAP has introduced a significant feature in its Content Management System (CMS), specifically within the SAP CRM Web Client UI. This feature, component-based development, allows for a modular, scalable, and consistent approach to building content structures for a website.
At the core of this feature are components, which are reusable, context-free layout shells. Each component has two primary parts: Parameters, which are variable contexts that can be customized when the component is used, and a Template, which is the layout or style shell that receives the parameters and renders the final output.
Components can be nested within one another, creating flexible and dynamic layouts. Updating the style, adding new fields, or making design changes in the Component Template automatically updates both instances. This ensures consistency across the site.
Attribute Sets simplify post sourcing by grouping post information into a single field, making the process faster and more streamlined. They also allow displaying the same Component with different source information based on various criteria, thanks to the Attribute Sets Conditional feature.
By reusing components, users can change some content while maintaining the overall look and feel. This not only saves time and effort but also ensures consistency across the site. SAP's component-based development in its CMS is a significant step towards more efficient and effective web content management.
