Skoda brings to the table the Elroq RS, a potent electric compact SUV that offers a harmonious blend of sport and comfort. By strategically positioning itself within the Volkswagen Group, this model avoids competing with Skoda's in-house counterparts.

Skoda touts the Elroq RS as an athletic take on their compact electric SUV lineup. At a length of 4.49 meters, it neatly slips between vehicles like the VW ID.4, Cupra Tavascan, and the smaller VW ID.3, Cupra Born, but surpasses them in size compared to the entry-level Elroq 50 Tour. The RS variant comes equipped with an exceptional standard feature set, offering a fantastic balance between performance and everyday practicality.

With a starting price of 53,050 euros in Germany, the 340-horsepower beast certainly isn't a budget option. However, it boasts double the power of its less expensive counterpart, the Elroq 50 Tour, at almost half the price.

A Thrill To Remember - Drive and Chassis

The Elroq RS comes armed with dual electric motors (one on each axle) that deliver a combined 250 kW/340 PS. The all-wheel-drive setup ensures immediate traction, enabling a sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.4 seconds. With a torque of 679 Newton meters, intermediate sprints and overtaking maneuvers are achieved with ease.

The Elroq RS's chassis is a standout feature. Its directly responsive and precise progressive steering becomes less sensitive at higher speeds, ensuring a secure driving experience. This technology is exclusive to the RS variant.

In addition, the adaptive DCC suspension is standard, offering a noticeable difference between sport and comfort mode. Potholes and asphalt patches are felt as brief jolts in the firm sport mode, while the SUV rolls smoothly in the comfort suspension setting. When driven aggressively, the over 2.2-ton Elroq RS tends to understeer.

Extensive Range and Fast Charging

The high-voltage battery stores 79 kilowatt hours of electricity, providing a driving range of 549 kilometers according to the WLTP cycle. Its fast-charging power (DC) surpasses that of any other Elroq variant. Within 26 minutes, the battery can charge from 10 to 80 percent. The combined consumption is 16.4 to 17.2 kilowatt hours. During testing with a mix of country roads and motorways, consumption was approximately 20 kilowatt hours.

A Stylish Powerhouse - Interiors and Exteriors

Skoda emphasizes the dynamic character of the Elroq RS with sleek design elements. Black accents on the roof rail, exterior mirrors, window frames, and "SKODA" lettering on the bonnet and tailgate contribute to the sporty look. Unique front and rear bumpers further enhance the SUV's athletic appearance, while the standard 20-inch lightweight alloy wheels emphasize its agility without appearing excessive.

The interior features a digital cockpit, boasting a 5-inch instrument display and 13-inch infotainment screen, with lime green contrast stitching and carbon decorative inserts adding a touch of personalization. The driver's seat is electronically adjustable, featuring massage and memory functions, as well as lumbar support. The ergonomics offer a comfortable driving experience, while the SUV's quiet operation only barely hums during hard acceleration.

Comprehensive Safety and Fun on Wheels

Modern driver assistance systems support the driver in critical situations. Notably, the standard head-up display with augmented reality functionality projects relevant information directly into the driver's field of vision. The navigation system manages both route and charging planning. The Canton-developed sound system with twelve speakers guarantees an immersive music experience.

The power tailgate allows access to the trunk, which holds 470 liters. With the rear seats folded down, up to 1,580 liters can be loaded. The towing capacity, often limited in electric vehicles, is impressive in the Elroq RS, allowing up to 1,400 kilograms to be towed. Although, the swiveling towbar must be ordered for an additional 700 euros.
