Smartphone shipments in India escalate by 7% during Q2, with Vivo leading the market, closely trailed by Samsung
In the second quarter of 2025, India's smartphone market experienced a 7% year-on-year growth, with shipments reaching 39 million units between April and June. According to Canalys, the top five brands by market share were Vivo, Samsung, Oppo, Xiaomi, and realme.
Leading the market was Vivo, with 8.1 million units shipped and a 21% share. The success was attributed to strong channel partnerships and the launch of the V50 series, Y-series, and T-series. Vivo's dominance in the market is a testament to its strategic approach and innovative product offerings.
Samsung followed closely with 6.2 million units (16% share), bolstered by financing offers on its A-series devices. Samsung's focus on the mid-premium segment and the introduction of zero-cost EMI options on models like the A36 and A56, helped the brand maintain its position in the market.
OPPO replaced Xiaomi from the third place with 5 million shipments, marking a significant milestone for the brand. Xiaomi, on the other hand, saw a 25% year-on-year decline, ending up fourth in the rankings. Realme completed the top five with 3.6 million units shipped, despite a 17% year-on-year drop.
Apple ranked sixth, with the iPhone 16 series driving more than half of its shipments. However, the iPhone 16e struggled to gain traction in Q2 2025.
In the competitive landscape, new entrants like Nothing experienced an explosive 229% year-on-year growth, while Motorola expanded into smaller cities in Q2 2025.
