Sally-Ann D'Amato Appointed as Interim Executive Director of SMPTE
Sally-Ann D'Amato, a seasoned veteran of SMPTE, has been named as the interim executive director of the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE), effective immediately. D'Amato, who previously held the position of Senior Director of Membership and Engagement, has been with SMPTE for 23 years and has developed a deep understanding of the organization's operations and mission.
SMPTE, an engineering society and international standards-setting body for motion imaging and media technology, is dedicated to driving advancements in this field. The organization's mission is clear: to shape the future of motion imaging and media technology.
In her new role, D'Amato will play a key part in ensuring continuity in SMPTE's initiatives during a time of transition. David Grindle, the former executive director of SMPTE, had been leading the organization since April of 2022. Grindle, who previously served as the executive director of the United States Institute for Theatre Technology, has stepped away from his position, effective October 18.
