Struggles persist for REMATCH in retaining its players, as the much-loved online game lacks a key component that others possess.

In the world of online football games, the anticipation is building for the much-awaited crossplay feature in REMATCH, developed by Sloclap. This five-a-side football game has been making waves since its Season 0 launch, but the lack of crossplay has been a hot topic of discussion among its community.

The good news is that the wait for crossplay is nearly over. Sloclap has confirmed that the long-awaited Rematch Crossplay update, also known as Patch 3, is scheduled for release at the end of August 2025. This highly anticipated update will bring full cross-platform multiplayer functionality to PC, PlayStation, and Xbox players, allowing them to compete in a shared online arena[1][3].

Patch 3 follows a series of earlier patches aimed at improving netcode, gameplay stability, and minor fixes. Notably, Patch 2, launched on August 18, 2025, focused on enhancing online gameplay and addressing various bugs[1][3][5].

The core development work for crossplay has been completed, and it has been validated by platform partners such as Steam, Xbox, and PlayStation. Currently, the focus is on final stabilization, bug fixing, and polishing the social features before the release[4]. In fact, beta testing for crossplay happened earlier in August 2025 on Steam, allowing players to help identify bugs before the final rollout[4].

Sloclap has emphasized crossplay as a significant feature to unify the player base and improve matchmaking quality[1][4]. With crossplay, players can look forward to a more diverse and dynamic gaming experience.

However, not everyone is optimistic about the upcoming update. Some players have expressed concerns about Sloclap's ability to fix bugs and implement crossplay[2]. Additionally, users on Steam have voiced concerns about the game's mechanics, particularly as a goalkeeper[2].

Another issue that has come to light is the cost of servers for REMATCH. Some users have reported infrastructure issues related to this[2]. Despite these concerns, REMATCH is currently available on Xbox and PC Game Pass, providing an accessible platform for players to enjoy the game.

In a bid to address community complaints, Sloclap has started a "Mini Dev Update" series, with the first entry posted on August 12, 2025[6]. Notably, legendary footballer Ronaldinho joined REMATCH before its full launch, available as a cosmetic purchase[6].

As we approach the end of August 2025, the REMATCH community eagerly awaits the Rematch Crossplay update. With crossplay set to launch soon, the future of this game looks promising, offering players a more unified and engaging gaming experience.
