4K UHD Delight: Studio Ghibli's The Boy and The Heron Sets Sail!

It's high time we savor some of the finest animation masterpieces in stunning 4K resolution, but, surprisingly, none of Studio Ghibli's treasure trove has graced our 4K UHD screens yet. That changed today! GKids declared that 'The Boy and The Heron' will embark on a physical journey this June, complete with a 4K UHD Blu-ray debut - a first for Ghibli films.

This not only marks the films' digital availability on supported platforms simultaneously, but the 4K version will also be up for grabs. Alongside the film, enthusiasts can look forward to some enticing special features, such as a visual storyboard of the film, exclusive interviews with Composer Joe Hisashi, Ghibli co-founder Toshio Suzuki, supervising animator Takeshi Honda, and even the music video for the film's theme song, "Spinning Globe."

Regrettably, no Miyazaki wisdom will be gleaned from these special features, but there's still plenty of intriguing content to indulge. The Boy and The Heron will set sail on 4K UHD, Blu-Ray, and DVD on June 25.
