The administrative guidelines for § 48 Abs. 2 of the Ordnungsbehördengesetz (OBG) were changed by the Ministry of the Interior and Local Government of North Rhine-Westphalia effective July 15, 2013. The new guidelines attach particular importance to the announcement and publication of communal measurement points. They also state that scientific studies show that transparency, publication, and more controls have positive effects on behaviour.
The police authority carries out its own controls; information on this can be found on the police's Internet pages. Speed monitoring measures for reasons of traffic safety are to be given priority in accordance with the available resources.
