Present Technologies to Renovate Historic Beer Factory in Coimbra

After celebrating its 25th anniversary, Present Technologies has announced plans to renovate a historic beer factory in Coimbra, marking a significant expansion for the technology company. The Coimbra City Council has given a favourable opinion to the urban rehabilitation project proposed by Present Technologies, which includes commercial and restaurant space on the ground floor.

The building, historically linked to beer, was initially the first factory of the Companhia de Cervejas de Coimbra. Present Technologies purchased the property about three years ago and has been preparing a request for financing under an instrument that supports this type of intervention.

The investment aims to respond to the company's growth in recent years, with Present Technologies enjoying a "ten-year cycle of significant growth" and experiencing 25% to 30% annual growth in the last five to six years. Around 70% to 75% of Present Technologies' revenue is related to the foreign market.

The renovation project includes the revitalisation of the main building, with a property at the back remaining unrenovated for now but potentially undergoing renovations in the future if the company continues to grow. There is a lack of spaces for this purpose in the city where the renovation is taking place.

Present Technologies has offices in Coimbra, Porto, and Sertã in addition to its main office at the Pedro Nunes Institute. The company works in areas as diverse as space, finance, automotive, and security.

The area of Emídio Navarro Avenue, where the Mondego Mobility System will eventually pass, is considered an "ideal location" by Paulo Martins. Vítor Batista, the CEO of Present Technologies, believes having the SMM right on the doorstep and the ease of access ensures "better conditions" for the company's attractiveness.

Present Technologies decided to invest in the urban rehabilitation project due to limited alternatives. The company aims to maintain its current growth rate and complete construction of the building by the end of 2026.
