Telegram-inspired Web3 Applications Debut on Messenger Line Platform

LINE NEXT, a subsidiary of the popular messaging platform LINE, is making strides in the global Web3 ecosystem. The company has announced an expansion plan and outlined its future goals, focusing on enhancing accessibility and user engagement.

To achieve this, LINE NEXT has partnered with METABORA, a renowned game development and global publishing company. This partnership aims to distribute Web3 games through the LINE Messenger–based Dapp Portal, leveraging METABORA's expertise to improve accessibility and marketing efforts for these games.

The Dapp Portal, built on the KAIA ecosystem, allows users to access Mini Dapps directly within the LINE Messenger app, eliminating the need for separate installations. This integrated approach has already attracted over 100 million cumulative users since its launch in January 2025.

The collaboration with METABORA is designed to accelerate growth in the Mini Dapp gaming ecosystem by combining both companies' strengths. While specific numbers for the expected number of blockchain-powered applications by 2025 are not detailed, the partnership is expected to significantly boost the visibility and adoption of Web3 games among LINE Messenger users.

The initial collection of dapps on the platform includes Captain Tsubasa -RIVALS-, a game based on a popular Japanese manga series, Superz, a fitness application, various social networks, and other Web3 content for trading digital assets.

LINE NEXT's strategy also involves hosting over 1,000 blockchain-powered applications by the end of 2025. This ambitious target underscores the company's commitment to expanding its offerings in the Web3 space.

LINE, a leading messenger in Japan, Taiwan, and Thailand, has approximately 200 million users as of 2024. The introduction of the new Web3 platform by LINE NEXT is expected to further boost adoption of Web3 technology in Asia.

It's worth noting that LINE NEXT has previously raised $140 million to expand its NFT initiatives in December 2023. All services on the platform operate on Kaia, an L1 blockchain developed by LINE NEXT in collaboration with South Korean messenger Kakao.

This move by LINE NEXT marks a significant step forward in the integration of Web3 technology into mainstream messaging platforms, making it easier for users to access and engage with blockchain-powered applications.

The partnership between LINE NEXT and METABORA, rooted in game development and global publishing, aims to expand the distribution of Web3 games via the LINE Messenger–based Dapp Portal, utilizing METABORA's expertise to enhance accessibility and marketing efforts. This collaboration, operating on the KAIA ecosystem, aims to significantly boost the visibility and adoption of NFTs and Web3 games among LINE Messenger users.
