Tesla aims to broaden Robotaxi service deployment in California within the upcoming months

Elon Musk, Tesla's CEO, announced that the Austin service area will be expanded this weekend, and he has provided a timeline of one to two months for the potential expansion into Silicon Valley. Regarding Arizona, Tesla applied for permits on June 26, 2025, to test and operate autonomous vehicles in the Phoenix metro area. The Arizona Department of Transportation indicated that Tesla's permit decision is expected by the end of July 2025.
Riz Akhtar, the founder of carloop and a mechanical engineer with a passion for EVs, is based in Melbourne and specializes in Australian EV data, insight reports, and trends. Hundreds of driverless rides have already been taken in Austin by invited riders, with a self-driving Tesla Model Y navigating highways and suburban streets to reach its destination, located about 30 minutes away, without anyone in the car.
