Brampton Supercharger Now Open: Largest Tesla Charging Station in Ontario Expands

After more than a year of waiting, the Brampton Supercharger has finally been energized, marking a significant expansion of Tesla's charging infrastructure in the Greater Toronto Area. Located at 210 Great Lakes Drive in a quieter section of the Trinity Commons Mall parking lot near the Rogers store, the new station boasts 24 V3 chargers, making it the second Tesla station in Brampton and the largest in the city.

The Brampton Supercharger was initially planned to be the largest in the country, tied with one in Hope, B.C., but it has since been surpassed by Superchargers in Mississauga (32 stalls) and Richmond (40 stalls). Regardless, the new Brampton Supercharger offers a substantial increase in charging capacity compared to the first Tesla station in Brampton, which has 12 stalls and is located at the Canadian Tire on 2850 Queen Street East.

The demand for charging infrastructure has been high as electric vehicle (EV) adoption accelerates across the Greater Toronto Area. With the new Trinity Commons location operational, Tesla drivers in the region have greater access to charging facilities. The Brampton Supercharger is capable of delivering up to 250kW of power, ensuring efficient charging for Tesla owners.

Interestingly, the rates at the Brampton Supercharger vary depending on the time of day. During off-peak hours, Tesla owners pay $0.25/kWh, while non-Tesla owners pay $0.32/kWh. However, during peak hours (12:00pm to 8:00pm), rates for Tesla owners increase to $0.55/kWh, and for non-Tesla owners to $0.70/kWh.

The Brampton Supercharger features a square layout with one pull-in stall among the 24 V3 chargers. It is a part of several Superchargers in Ontario that were waiting for activation, indicating a growing network of charging stations across the province.

The Tesla Supercharger network was first introduced globally in 2012, starting in the United States with a focus on high-traffic corridors. By 2014, Tesla had established Supercharger stations in Canada along key corridors, specifically Ontario Highway 401 between Toronto and Montreal, indicating an early presence of Superchargers in the Ontario region.

As of January 2025, Canada hosts 236 Supercharger sites overall, but the distribution per city or station specifics for Brampton, Mississauga, and Richmond are not outlined in the results. Local Tesla or provincial infrastructure records may provide more granular data.

In conclusion, the opening of the Brampton Supercharger marks a significant step forward in expanding Tesla's charging infrastructure in the Greater Toronto Area. With its increased capacity and strategic location, it is set to serve Tesla drivers efficiently and effectively.

The expansion of Tesla's charging infrastructure in the Greater Toronto Area continues with the addition of the Brampton Supercharger, which now boasts 24 V3 chargers, making it a prominent charging station for electric vehicles. As more people adopt electric cars, the lifestyle benefiting from advancements in technology, such as electric-vehicles and charging stations, becomes increasingly popular.
