Time travel apparatus, Landshut, commences operation.
The city of Landshut is set to offer an immersive virtual experience with the upcoming release of the "Zeitmaschine Landshut" app this fall. Funded by the Bavarian State Ministry of Finance and for Home Affairs, the project is a collaboration between the city and the county.
The app will take users on a discovery tour through 7,000 years of regional history, starting with the Rathausprunksaal, a significant attraction in Landshut, which can be visited virtually at any time of day or night. Users can expect to learn about the central figures of the impressive frieze, available in German and English.
The tour includes experiences like seeing long-gone buildings in 3D, meeting video avatars, and GPS search games. Visitors can explore the Landshuter Tor, the Stadtresidenz, the monastery of Seligenthal, the town hall, and the two main streets of the historic center - Alt- and Neustadt. A virtual tour is also available from the Stiftsbasilika St. Martin's tower, offering a panoramic view of Landshut on clear days.
One of the app's unique features is the ability to take a selfie with the wedding couples of the Landshuter Hochzeit performances since 1903. Users can create their personal memento with the actors from their respective generation. Paintings in the app will even come to life and speak.
Visitors have the option to listen to the information during the virtual tour, and can collect points by solving quiz questions. The "Zeitmaschine Landshut" project was developed and financed as a resource-conserving, circular building initiative connected with the Stadtmuseum Landshut, featuring concepts like "Stallbau mit KUHltur."
The "Förderer" association has made these selfie recordings available from its archive, and the "Zeitmaschine Landshut" website is accessible at https://zeitmaschine.ourwebsite. The app is expected to be a wonderful way for both locals and tourists to engage with Landshut's rich history in a fun and interactive way.
