Transitioning Ideas into Practice: Nymfo shares thoughts on the inaugural year of Love For Low Frequencies (LFLF)
Love For Low Frequencies (LFLF), the bass music label founded by drum & bass veteran Nymfo, is celebrating its first anniversary. Established with a focus on drum & bass and related genres, LFLF has made significant strides in its first year, releasing over a dozen tracks, and garnering a dedicated following.
Before announcing LFLF, Nymfo took time to prepare, aiming to avoid the common pitfall of announcing a label and then not following through with regular releases. He wanted the first five releases to be ready before making the official announcement, ensuring a steady stream of monthly releases.
Nymfo's efforts have paid off, with the label hosting events, supporting upcoming artists, and even expanding its presence in the UK through a monthly Kool FM showcase with Tamara. The documentary 'For The Love Of Low Frequencies' offers an insightful look into LFLF's journey, challenges, aspirations, and recent milestones. The documentary was screened at Melkweg Cinema during Curated by Talks on LFLF's first anniversary.
The premiere for the updated version of the documentary was held at Melkweg, Amsterdam, with Nymfo and LFLF core member VOXI discussing the label's journey and the recent premiere of the documentary. There are two versions of the documentary, one featuring a fast-paced intro by Bardo for the screening in Melkweg.
Tamara, who prepared the script for the documentary and interviewed all the artists, is looking for a vinyl release, possibly a compilation of the first year's releases. She also plans to expand the LFLF label night to more places in Europe and abroad.
Nymfo communicates well with the artists he signs, calling them to express gratitude and discuss their wishes. He aims to release music every month or every other month, but it depends on getting enough high-quality demos. However, the next release takes a little longer to come out due to challenges with masters.
Despite the challenges, Nymfo is proud of the positive feedback received for LFLF, but didn't expect it to be this successful. He sees taking on the role of a label boss as a natural evolution, as he is 42 and wants to make room for other artists. Running LFLF gives Nymfo a lot of energy, allowing him to continue performing while not having to do it every weekend.
Nymfo and LFLF are also set to do a showcase at the Liquicity Festival and a new location in Amsterdam for ADE. Tamara has a popular monthly showcase with LFLF on Kool FM, and there are plans to take the LFLF label night to more locations in the future.
For the latest specific updates on LFLF's progress and future plans, checking Nymfo’s official channels such as his social media or the label's website is recommended.
- Tamara has expressed her desire to release a vinyl compilation of the label's first year's releases on LFLF, marking an expansion of their physical media presence, which aligns with the label's lifestyle of engaging with various aspects of entertainment.
- As the upcoming shows at Liquicity Festival and ADE approach, technology will play a critical role in LFLF's performances, with Nymfo and other artists showcasing their music to a global audience, underscoring the label's commitment to innovation and staying at the forefront of drum & bass and related genres in the music industry.
